Herbert James Draper (November 1863 (or 1864), London - 22 September 1920, London) was a popular English Classicist artist of the late Victorian period and although later in life he was known for his portraits, when he was at his most popular, Draper was renowned for Greek mythological paintings.

1 View Grid Block Map Herbert James Draper was born in London. He was educated at Bruce Castle before moving to the Royal Academy Schools, where he was awarded a gold medal and a travelling scholarship in 1889. In 1890 he travelled throughout Europe, spending time in Paris and Rome.

However, his work has been little studied, because his fluent academic draftsmanship, the result of a training received in Paris, rapidly became unfashionable in the 20th century.
